DriveGuard privacy policy

Effective 8 October 2026

DriveGuard is published by Vangiza ("we"). This policy explains what happens to information in the DriveGuard app for Android and iOS.

Summary

If you turn on Google Drive backup, your backups are stored in your own Google account, not with us.

Information you enter

You can record vehicles (make, model, year, plate number, mileage, specifications), fuel fill-ups, services, reminders, document expiry dates, notes, receipts and vehicle photos. This information is saved in the app's private storage on your device. It is not sent to Vangiza or to any server we operate.

Device permissions

You can withdraw these permissions at any time in your device settings.

Reports you export

PDF and Excel reports are created on your device. They go only where you send them through your device's share menu. You can mask the plate number and hide amounts before exporting.

Backups

Google Drive backup is optional. If you connect a Google account, DriveGuard asks Google for one permission: to store files in a private app folder in your own Google Drive (the drive.appdata scope). DriveGuard cannot see any other files in your Drive.

A backup contains your garage: cars, records, reminders, settings, receipts and car photos. It goes directly from your phone to your Google Drive. Vangiza has no server that receives it and cannot read it. DriveGuard keeps your 3 most recent backups there and deletes older ones. Google stores these files under its own privacy policy.

To stop backing up, choose Disconnect in Settings → Backup & restore, or remove DriveGuard's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete the backups, open Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → DriveGuard → Delete hidden app data.

DriveGuard's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Backup files you create with "Save backup file" are made on your phone and go only where you send them. We don't receive them.

Advertising

DriveGuard is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve, limit, and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address (and an approximate location derived from it), device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Your vehicle records are never shared with advertisers.

Learn how Google uses this information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your records stay on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes all of them. Because we do not hold your records, we cannot recover them for you. Backups in your Google Drive stay there until you delete them as described under Backups.

Children

DriveGuard is meant for drivers and vehicle owners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page and update the effective date.
